Hold it all closely while you can It’ll be gone in a moment Receive without clinging and love without needing Knowing that love is an act not a feeling Whisper loudly your kindest words Profess the fullness of your care and compassion Release any hint of shame this presents Let minor annoyances pass and to the best of your ability Offer only clean kindness and affection Resentment and pity gather residue like a pebble in a shoe Tiny enough to overlook yet powerful enough to take you down Hurt feelings blister and fester Given enough time they consume what they touch Wash them daily in acceptance Change the bandages Air them out and let them breathe Your breath only knows the present moment Apply the allheal of forgiveness Your body knows how to do this Surrender as much as you can muster Don’t tether yourself to fears only to remain in safe harbor Be swept away Let your daring heart be carried where it would To wander far and wide Over prairies and mountains, oceans, lakes and forests All planets and all beings, those known and unknown As far as the gaze of all the eyes can see and then Further still You will still know loss Your heart will still be wounded Let it be done Keep it open anyway It will rejuvenate Taste the bittersweetness of it’s scars Come to know this and you’ll need to know nothing else Your heart's capacity is indomitable Neither live in denial Needing what’s next to come as if right now were somehow insufficient As if any of this were ordinary or could be known by words As if any of this could last As if each breath were not a marvel Every embrace not a homecoming Relax into present time awareness Gather up your heart-mind Sow it’s seeds Live with intention
